![]() What I can't call good writing either at this point are the tear jerking introduction arcs themselves. Of course, you will inevitably feel attached to these characters, just because you have spent so much time with them, but I can't really call that good character writing. Almost all of them have a great tear jerking introduction arc, where they are presented and fleshed out as characters, but they never go anywhere past that, being stale for the rest of the show. Luffy's nakama is pretty much the problem incarnate. But they don't know where to take them after that, there is literally no real character development happening in this over 700 episode long anime, the main characters are exactly what they are introduced as. Here is One Piece's biggest flaw concerning characterization: They manage to create characters that are great initially, fantastic back stories, interesting personalities, all of that. ![]()
