My game 'patrician 3'is not compatible with W-10. But it plays well. I reckon running dual boot with Win7 to play the game would be as much a. You may find a fix for the save glitch, which could be something to do with. Nov 08, 2014 Patrician 3 works on windows 7 as well as on win 8. There can be a minor issue with bad colours and slighly distorted screen this sometimes happens but it can be fixed without any alterations. The fix is start a freeform game then exit and reurn to the main menu.
EB: Error loading font.Don't have the game but my guess it your Windows install is missing a standard font that the game needs to run.Since you may have an international version of Windows installed and for a specific language, Windows might have skipped over some standard 'english' fonts on the install.Maybe check your font directory and make sure the standard Arial, Courier, Tahoma (good possibility), Times New Roman etc etc are installed.Installing the missing font will probably fix your problem.=^ ). I didn't really find any of the standard fonts on Dafont. However, there are commercial links, and I, for exampel, saw the possibility of buying Arial for 467$.There are torrents to download, just google, packs with thousands and THOUSANDS of fonts that I PRESUME must, simply MUST include the standard ones.Anyhow, say I don't care about the fonts in particulair, I just want to get the game started and it bothers me that it does not work, couldn't I just pick any font, rename it, the same font to all the standard fonts that say, Windows XP should have? Superdude: I didn't really find any of the standard fonts on Dafont.
However, there are commercial links, and I, for exampel, saw the possibility of buying Arial for 467$.I have never used that font site but.Do not pay that kind of cash for a font. Those days ended with ttf. Do you need Arial?? That is a standard font for a windows install, if missing that may be the font it is looking for.The OP has most likely installed with a different language, which prompted my first response, I have no idea what your system is running (language?) so my reply may not address your problem.I don't know which font the game is looking for so it is hard to advise. Renaming would not work as the font files have naming conventions internally as well. Searching the developers website for similar problems would be my first action followed by sending a help ticket directly to the developers help desk concerning this problem.I would find a friend with a computer running the same OS and compare the contents of the font folder.
If your folders match (standard fonts) and you have no corrupted fonts than it could be the game failed to install an embedded font. Re-installing may be a fix. If that is the problem.Vista / Win 7/ firewalls can block install programs. You might uninstall the game, disconnect from the internet, disable your firewall / AV, right click the install file, click Run As Administrator, after installing enable your firewall / AV / reconnect and see if the game runs.Edit: I would suggest you do not install any font 'packs'. If the error message is correct, you need only one font. Superdude: Well, my Vista is Swedish. It seems likely that, SOMEHOW that's messing things up.
(don't blame me it was pre-installed:( )I'm not sure exactly how that would mess things up, and what I can do about it. Perhaps there's an english version of the fonts, and that's what I need.Swedish versions of Windows contain the same fonts as the English (we use the same script, unlike many Asian languages), so I seriously doubt that's the problem. Of course, if for some reason the install is messed up, it could. Mess things up.And ascaron.com won't load here either, I'm guessing it's gone belly-up. Superdude: Well, my Vista is Swedish. Apparently it's /I can OFC try to reinstall. Maby it'll work^^My bad, I didn't realize Patrician was an Ascaron game, they have closed I believe, Sacred 2 barely made it out the door so you won't be able to get help from them. One thing to try first, right click the game shortcut, click properties, click compatibility, check mark the 'Run this program as an administrator' option.I agree with Miaghstir, your font install should be fine since windows has a standard set installed on almost all versions. That leads me to believe your system blocked an install of a font included with the game. Try reinstalling using the 'Run as administrator' method mentioned in the previous post. Good luck!Edit: Might be beating a dead horse, did a quick search and found this has been a problem for Pat 3 for quite a while. Should be a solution by now.somewhere.
Out there.=^ ). WellI reinstalled, this time on the same drive as my windows folder, just in case. I have my windows firewall switched off by default. I tried running it as the administrator, the setup.
And I tried running the exe later, also as an administrator. No workie.Just in case, to follow you through exacly, I made a shortcut, and run that one as an administrator, also I ran with XP kompability mode.I also tried a patched exe, think it's called 11.b, an official patched version of the game with less bugs. No workie there either.-Seems that my only remaining option is to find a person on who's computer tha game works, and copy his fonts. Superdude: Seems that my only remaining option is to find a person on who's computer tha game works, and copy his fonts. If you look in the Patrician install folder, do you have any files with a.FOT extension?
Something like LSANS.FOT. A similar problem was fixed by renaming this file. The file tells the game to load LSANS.TTF (the LucidaSans font file) from the game install folder and if the file isn't there, the game won't load.By removing the LSANS.FOT file (or by simply renaming it) the game looks for the font file elsewhere, and finds it.This is a REAL long shot but it allowed a game to open that had the exact same error you have.
Hope it helps with your problem as well.
